PRINCIPLES

ASTRO Principles

The ASTRO Network is bound to these principles, in letter and in spirit.

ASTRO is an owner-first network.

Protections are embedded at the protocol, identity, trust, and settlement levels—not bolted on afterward. Verification precedes privilege, hosts retain control, and exchange activity is governed by enforceable system rules rather than platform discretion.

01

Verification Before Privilege (Trust Gate)

No owner participates in the Owners Exchange without passing ASTRO’s trust gates. The system sequences member intake, property claim, listing control verification, member identity confirmation, and internal trust and fraud filtering before exchange privileges attach.

Privilege follows evidence: the participant must be real, the property must correspond to a real listing or real-world asset, the claimant must demonstrate control over the listing, and the network must hold sufficient confidence before access is granted. Fraud is suppressed before any economic interaction occurs.

02

Listing Control Verification

Listing control verification is a core owner protection. The system requires the claimant to demonstrate control over the live listing environment; self-attestation alone is never enough.

Exchange rights anchor to demonstrated control, not to bare assertion.

  • The claimant can affect the listing surface.
  • The property is not being claimed by an unrelated third party.
  • Network privileges attach only to a controlled asset.

03

Registry Integrity Layer (Provenance + Conflict Detection)

ASTRO maintains a Registry Integrity Layer that enforces consistency across property identity and media. Provenance and conflict detection bind media to controlled listings, require owner affirmation of media rights, run integrity and duplication checks, and preserve fraud-reporting pathways for verified participants.

On the network side, ASTRO filters duplicate or misattributed media, flags inconsistencies between claimed listings and known assets, and identifies patterns consistent with fraudulent claims. On the owner side, legitimate owners can recognize when their media appears elsewhere, report suspected impersonation or unauthorized use, and surface conflicts that isolated listing platforms cannot show.

Unlike conventional marketplaces, ASTRO’s registry makes cross-listing inconsistencies observable. Fraud is filtered by the system and made detectable by the network so owners can defend their properties.

04

Host Control Over All Stays

ASTRO does not permit stays to begin without host approval. Every stay begins as a request; the host must explicitly accept. A stay becomes binding only when a confirmed stay record exists. At that moment, availability is locked, settlement attaches to the stay, and system invariants take effect. Owners retain full approval authority over guests.

05

Travelcoin Ledger Discipline (Non-Cash Exchange Rail)

Travelcoin (TC) is the internal accounting unit for the Owners Exchange. It is not purchasable, not withdrawable, and not a stored-value instrument; it exists solely to record exchange between owners under system rules.

The ledger is append-only, records balanced posting groups, settles once at stay confirmation, and applies exact-mirror reversals for cancellations that follow the rules. The system permits no arbitrage, no uncontrolled discounting, and no ledger manipulation.

06

Separation of Exchange Rail and Direct Payment Rail

ASTRO strictly separates the Exchange Rail, where Travelcoin records nightly stay value between owners, from the Direct Payment Rail, where external obligations—cleaning fees, taxes, deposits, add-ons, and programs—are handled.

ASTRO does not intermediate external payments. Owners retain financial control of those flows while the exchange system remains clean, bounded, and separate from program and vendor money.

07

Structured Cancellation Enforcement

Cancellations are system-defined, not improvised. Time-based refund logic governs outcomes; same-day and no-show situations do not receive automatic full refunds by default. When a host cancels, full guest protection applies. Reversals execute through ledger rules so owners are protected from last-minute value loss and outcomes stay predictable.

08

Binding Dispute Resolution

All participants accept ASTRO’s internal dispute process. The system evaluates stay records, communications, submitted evidence, and behavioral and trust signals before it acts.

Disputes resolve through structure and enforcement—not through informal negotiation.

  • Resolution may include full or partial reversals.
  • Resolution may include credit allocations, deposit assignments, or privilege restrictions.

09

Abuse Controls and Privilege Enforcement

The network enforces request limits, cooldowns, overlap restrictions, and abuse detection so coordinated misuse cannot overwhelm owners.

  • Violations may result in restricted privileges, suspension, or removal.
  • Owners are protected from spam, manipulation, and repeated bad-faith behavior.

10

Persistent Property Identity and Ownership Truth

Each property exists as a canonical registry object carrying stable identity, ownership linkage, listing-control status, and trust signals.

That identity is independent of any single external platform. Property truth persists beyond the lifecycle of any one listing ecosystem.

11

Governed Network Rules

ASTRO operates under governing rules that define identity standards, listing control requirements, registry integrity, ledger behavior, dispute authority, and exchange invariants. Those rules are deterministic, system-enforced, and resistant to marketplace drift.

They apply consistently, prevent exchange behavior from degrading into opaque marketplace dynamics, and preserve owner protections regardless of growth pressure. Protections are not discretionary policy alone—they are protocol guarantees the system enforces.

12

Owners are not inventory.

They are verified participants operating under governed network rules. The network does not treat properties as fungible supply, and it does not subordinate owner truth to traffic or scale.

ASTRO is designed to operate under constraint. These principles keep ownership real, exchange fair, and the network trustworthy. They are foundational—and they are not negotiable.
