About Camp Ford
Camp Ford Historic Park in Tyler, TX, is the site of the largest Confederate Prisoner of War Camp west of the Mississippi River during the American Civil War. Established in 1863, it detained over 5,300 prisoners at its peak before closing in 1865. Today, the public park features a kiosk with extensive graphics detailing the camp's history, a walking trail with interpretive signage, and a picnic area.
