About Scouting Museum
The National Scouting Museum, founded in 1959, preserves the history of the Scouting movement by collecting and displaying its treasures and stories. Since 2018, it has also operated the Villa Philmonté and incorporated the Philmont Museum and the Seton Memorial Library. These institutions promote the stories of BSA co-founder Ernest Thompson Seton, Philmont's benefactor Waite Phillips, and the Philmont Scout Ranch. Visitors can see exhibits including the first Eagle badge, Lord Baden-Powell’s walking staff, Seton’s painting "Triumph of the Wolves," and ancient Native American relics.
