About Proprietary House
Proprietary House, completed in 1764, is a museum in Perth Amboy, NJ, and the only remaining official royal governor’s mansion still standing in the original 13 colonies. This historic building has served various roles, including a stylish hotel and private mansion, witnessing 250 years of American history. Today, the museum hosts guided tours, lectures, concerts, storytelling, ghost tours, and teas. Its beautiful spaces are also available for rent for special occasions.
