About Marion Train Depot
The Marion Train Depot was originally built in 1867 as a freight depot for the Western Rail Line, making it one of Western North Carolina's oldest surviving depots. Additions were made in 1935 and 1952, and it provided passenger rail service until the 1970s. Renovated in 2005, the depot now houses Marion's Office of Economic Development and is available for rent for meetings, parties, and other events, accommodating up to 110 people.
