The Dahlonega Gold Museum is housed in Georgia's 1836 Lumpkin County Courthouse and chronicles the region's gold rush, which preceded California's by two decades. The museum displays a complete coin collection from the U.S. Branch Mint that operated here from 1838 to 1861, along with rare gold nuggets and historic mining equipment. Visitors explore both the museum exhibits and the historic courthouse features including beautifully preserved wooden chapel seats.
