The Steinbeck House is John Steinbeck’s birthplace and boyhood home, a restored Queen Anne style Victorian built in 1897. The Steinbeck family purchased the home in 1900. The Valley Guild purchased and restored it in 1973, opening it as a restaurant in 1974. Today, it is a charming restaurant serving lunch Tuesday through Saturday and features a gift shop, The Best Cellar.
