About Historic USCG Boathouse
The Historic USCG Boathouse preserves the heritage of lifesaving operations on the Point Reyes Peninsula. Established in 1890 as a Life-Saving Service station, it relocated in 1927 to Drakes Bay near Chimney Rock when motorized lifeboats replaced human-powered surfboats. Today it showcases the transition from the original Life-Saving Service to the modern Coast Guard.
