About John Marshall House
The John Marshall House was the home of Chief Justice John Marshall from 1790 to 1835 in Richmond’s historic Court End neighborhood. Guided tours explore the formation of American government through the federal judiciary, featuring the largest collection of original Marshall family pieces. The grounds offer a free self-guided outdoor exhibit detailing the house’s workyard and Marshall’s law office. The site also shares the Black history of the house, including stories of families built under enslavement.
