About The Pylons
The Pylons, located above War Memorial Chapel, are etched with the names of Virginia Tech students and graduates who died defending the nation, beginning with World War I. They represent Virginia Tech’s core values: Brotherhood, Honor, Leadership, Sacrifice, Service, Loyalty, Duty, and Ut Prosim. Names are added during a Pylon Dedication Ceremony conducted by the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, featuring a rifle salute and Echo Taps.
