About Lyceum Museum
The Lyceum, constructed in 1839 as part of America's public education movement, is a historic landmark serving as the Alexandria History Museum. The Federal brick building survived the Civil War, during which it served as a hospital, and has since housed various uses before becoming a cultural center. Today it showcases exhibitions and collections that tell the story of Alexandria's past and its diverse communities.
