About French Legation Museum
Opened in 1841 as a diplomatic outpost for the French chargé d'affaires to the Republic of Texas, the French Legation is one of Austin's oldest houses. The site interprets the history of Texas's settlement and the growth of one of the city's most historic neighborhoods.
