About Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center
The Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center provides a window on the past of the original four-room school that served African-American students from 1932 to 1953. The current building, a recreation of the original, opened in 2006. Visitors can explore a museum room displaying artifacts from the school and its period, staffed by former students. A reference library of African-American history is also available, and other parts of the building are used for educational purposes.
