About University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course
The Championship Golf Course, which officially opened in 1967, has been recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top-25 public courses in the country. Golfweek Magazine rated it the number one course in New Mexico in 1991 and No. 2 in the West in 1998. This course has hosted multiple NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships in 1950, 1976, 1992, and 1998, along with the women’s NCAA tourney in 1987.
