About Scale House
The Scale House is a small brick building built in 1829 that served as storage for customs equipment used to weigh cargo on Salem's wharves. Located behind the Custom House in Salem Maritime National Historical Park, it now contains interpretive exhibits about 19th-century U.S. Customs Service operations and original weighing equipment.
