About Tech Model Railroad Club
The Tech Model Railroad Club, established at MIT in 1946, is one of the university's oldest student activities. It operates trains through Gifford City along the Tech Nickel Plate, a layout that includes Gifford City Union Station, the MITCo Trolley Barn, and the Tech Nickel Plate Roundhouse and Turntable. The club is also noted as the birthplace of the term “hack.”
