The John Gilmore Riley Center & Museum for African American History & Culture is a historical and cultural gem in downtown Tallahassee. Visitors can take guided or self-guided tours to journey back in time to the Reconstruction era. The museum features a current exhibit titled African Americans in Tallahassee: The World Wars and Post-War Life. The historic Riley House was constructed around 1890 and was home to educator and civic leader John Gilmore Riley.
