Ormond Beach earned its title as the Birthplace of Speed in 1903 when the hard-packed sands became a proving ground for early automobile and motorcycle racing. The park features a replica of the historic Ormond Garage built by Henry Flagler in 1904, where legendary racers including Henry Ford and Glenn Curtiss prepared their vehicles. Visitors can explore four stone monuments commemorating the city's racing legacy, including the record-setting 127.659 mph run by Fred Marriott that stood for four years.
