About Birthplace of Speed
In 1903, the hard-packed sands of Ormond Beach became a proving ground for automobile and motorcycle speed trials. The site earned the title Birthplace of Speed after records set here became the first significant marks recorded outside of Europe. Today, Birthplace of Speed Park preserves this heritage with a small replica of the historic Ormond Garage and replicas of early racing vehicles.
