About Henry Clay Factory
Henry Clay Village was established near Wilmington's textile mills in the early 1800s and developed around powder-making operations. The community housed workers from Ireland, France, Italy and elsewhere, featuring semi-detached homes built by mill owners and supporting churches, stores, and public institutions. The village was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
