About Eastern California Museum
The Eastern California Museum is Inyo County’s only regional museum, preserving Eastern Sierra history and heritage for over 90 years. It houses collections and features permanent and special exhibits, including the restored Slim Princess steam engine. The museum also maintains the historic Commander’s House, built in 1873 at Fort Independence and later moved to its current site.
