About Murphy-Collins House
The Murphy-Collins House is a historically significant Tuscaloosa landmark dedicated to preserving and sharing African American history and heritage. It was once owned by Dr. William Murphy, a pioneering African American physician, and his wife, Annie Collins Murphy, an educator and community leader. Today, the house serves as a museum and educational space where visitors can learn about the Murphys’ lives, broader Black history in Tuscaloosa, and the social and cultural contributions of African American communities through exhibits and programming. Guided tours are available.
