About Westmoreland County Museum
The Westmoreland County Museum, founded in 1939, preserves the history of Westmoreland County, ancestral home to three US presidents. The original museum displays a Charles Willson Peale painting of William Pitt and furniture from the Washington family. The Historic Courthouse offers rotating exhibits on local history, along with the Henry Hungerford Library and Genealogical Research Center. On Saturdays, the Wakefield Building features a Mercantile and a Soda Shoppe.
