About Pioneer Memorial Museum
The Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum explores the history of the Llano Estacado, from prehistoric times to Anglo settlement. It features a mural depicting the 1871 Battle of Blanco Canyon between Mackenzie's 4th Cavalry and Quanah's Comanche band. The Wayne J. Parker Center houses over 25,000 archeological pieces representing Comanche, Apache, and Kiowa cultures. The West Wing displays prehistoric evidence, including remains of bison and mastodon that roamed the Great Staked Plains.
