About Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum
The Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum, built in 1797, is the oldest wood frame building in Jonesborough's commercial historic district. It was known as the finest inn on the Tennessee frontier and hosted three US presidents. Today, the site includes a museum in the cellar, which chronicles the town's history from 1779 to the present with exhibits on the State of Franklin and historic photographs. The Inn has been restored and furnished in the spirit of the 1890s.
