About Mead Museum / Dakota Territorial Museum
The Mead Museum is housed in a beautiful 1909 Federal brick mansion featuring original Italian marble staircases. The museum offers three floors of exhibits including an interactive Children's Transportation Museum, a Lewis and Clark exhibit with a rare Jefferson Peace Medal, and artifacts related to Yankton State Hospital and Yankton College history. The surrounding Heritage Park showcases historic buildings including a 1906 schoolhouse and a Great Northern Railroad Depot.
