About Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art
Founded in 1919, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is one of Oklahoma's oldest museums, named for Father Gregory Gerrer, a Benedictine monk who collected art and ethnological objects. The museum's permanent collections span over 8,000 years of art and culture, featuring Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Native American, African, Oceanic, and Eastern artifacts. Its Egyptian collection is considered by some to be the finest between Chicago and Los Angeles, and the museum also offers special exhibitions.
