The Spirit of '76 Museum was founded in 1968 to house the Alex Justice collection and share the history of Wellington and its surrounding countryside. Located in a building constructed in 1870 as a cheese warehouse, the museum displays memorabilia and artifacts from the area and beyond. Its collection includes eight oil paintings by artist Archibald Willard, and the museum is named after his famous painting, 'Spirit of '76'.
