About Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum
The Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum, founded in 1971, traces its roots to 1937 as the Rochester Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. The museum preserves over 40 pieces of historic railroad equipment, including 11 operating diesel-electric locomotives and two steam locomotives. It operates a two-mile demonstration railroad and features the restored 1930s-era Industry depot and a three-track yard displaying vintage trains. The museum educates the public on Rochester's railroading heritage.
