About Clinton House
The Clinton House State Historic Site is a beautifully restored Dutch colonial/Georgian stone house built in 1765. Named for Revolutionary War Governor George Clinton, it was rebuilt with soldier labor after a fire and served as Quartermaster Udnay Hay's residence. This historic home was an active site from 1777-1783 when Poughkeepsie was the capital of New York State. It also serves as a repository for historical documents spanning over three centuries of Hudson Valley history.
