About Rock Island Depot Railroad Museum
The Rock Island Depot Railroad Museum is the former Western Division Headquarters for the Rock Island, which dispatched trains west of Des Moines until 1980. The main floor features museum exhibits displaying Rock Island memorabilia and a gift shop. The second floor, once offices, now houses an extensive HO scale model train display, a research library, and public meeting space. Outside, visitors can explore a re-created garden park and a memorial wall honoring Rock Island employees and families.
