About Museum of North Carolina Minerals
The Museum of North Carolina Minerals showcases over 300 varieties of minerals and gems found in the mountains near Spruce Pine. It features interactive displays about these regional minerals and the historical importance of the mining industry. The museum also hosts a visitor center for the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce and a gift shop. Each September, it hosts an encampment of Revolutionary War re-enactors at Gillespie Gap.
