About George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum
The George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, established in 1896, houses the eclectic collections of George Walter Vincent Smith and Belle Townsley Smith in an Italian palazzo-style building. Its vast holdings include Japanese lacquer, arms and armor, ceramics, bronzes, and one of the largest collections of Chinese cloisonné outside of Asia. Visitors can also see Chinese jade, 19th-century Middle Eastern carpets, American 19th-century paintings, Greek and Roman antiquities, and a rare plaster cast collection.
