About Munroe Tavern
Munroe Tavern, built in 1735, was commandeered by British Redcoat troops on April 19, 1775. Downstairs, exhibits illustrate the British perspective of that day, while upstairs focuses on a family home taken over by enemy soldiers. Visitors can also see where President Washington dined in 1789. The museum is self-guided and features gardens with 18th-century flowers and historic roses.
