About Metropolitan Waterworks Museum
The Waterworks Museum interprets the history of one of the country's first metropolitan water systems through exhibitions and educational programs. Its focus areas include engineering, architecture, social history, public health, and Safe Water Access. The museum's centerpiece is its collection of three original coal-powered, steam-driven water pumps. These engines, Leavitt, Worthington, and Allis, stand over three stories tall in the Great Engines Hall, showcasing 19th-century technology.
