About Shadows on the Teche
Shadows-on-the-Teche is a museum located in New Iberia’s Main Street District. This former plantation home was built for sugar planters Mary and David Weeks and remained in their family for four generations. The site holds many layers of history in its walls and gardens, telling the story of the Weeks family alongside the hundreds of enslaved people who lived and labored there. Their experiences and those of their descendants profoundly shape the house’s history and legacy.
