The Galena Mining & Historical Museum opened in 1984, housed in the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas “KATY” Railroad Depot, which was built in 1904. The museum is located on historic Kansas Route 66. It explores the area's mining heritage, including the mineral Galena for which the town is named, and local history.
