The Schmidt-Burnham Log House is the oldest log structure in Cook County, Illinois, built around 1837. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and opened to the public in 2006. The museum is named for the Schmidt and Burnham families, who resided there for many years. Visitors can observe the original c. 1837 axe cut marks on the hand-hewn white oak logs and the intact 1917 addition.
