About Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center
Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center features 2.5 miles of paved and unpaved walking trails, including an accessible garden trail. The 6,000-square-foot accessible garden offers raised flower beds, interpretive signs in multiple languages, and a sensory water feature. Originally built in 1886, the schoolhouse reopened in 1955 as a nature education center. Visitors can also obtain National Park Service cancellation stamps for the Chicago Portage National Historic Site and the I&M Canal National Heritage Area.
