About Evanston History Center
The Evanston History Center collects, preserves, and shares Evanston history from its home in the Dawes House. This chateauesque residence, a National Historic Landmark built in 1894, was the home of former U.S. Vice President Charles Gates Dawes and features twenty-five restored rooms. The center's collections include over 100,000 artifacts, such as decorative arts, rare books, and a nationally renowned Costume Collection, accessible in its Research Room. Visitors can also attend the Talks@EHC discussion series or learn about Evanston's diverse architecture.
