About Bloomingdale Park District Museum
The Bloomingdale Park District Museum is Bloomingdale’s oldest building, hosting five to seven exhibits and over 1,000 visitors annually. Originally built in 1849 as the First Baptist Church of Christ, visitors can view the original 1849 ceiling, knotty pine floor, and some original glass pane windows. The historic building also served as the Bloomingdale Academy, Township Office, and Town Hall, and once housed a jail cell installed in 1910. A 1998 restoration added an art gallery and refurbished much of the original architecture.
