About Deacon John Grave House Museum
The Deacon John Grave House, a saltbox house built in 1685, is one of Madison, CT's oldest homes. It housed nine generations of the Grave family until 1978 and historically served as a tavern, courtroom, and hospital. Visitors can take a lively tour detailing its history, enjoy the perennial garden in summer, and attend events such as tavern nights and hearth cooking. The house features a hidden attic compartment and a massive chamfered summer beam.
