About John W. Rawlings Heritage Center
The John W. Rawlings Heritage Center and Museum is housed in the restored IOOF building, originally dedicated in 1898. Its exhibits, created by the Bent County Historical Society, salute Native Americans, early farms, historic businesses, and Bent County heritage. Visitors can see a pharmacy with early medical equipment, an 1860s chuck wagon, and a horse-drawn beet puller. The Kathleen Tomlin Memorial Bell Park behind the museum features historic bronze bells, a working blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, and an iron jail.
