About The Great Stone Church
The Great Stone Church refers to the ruins of a historic church destroyed by an earthquake in 1812. These ruins are located on the Historic Mission grounds in San Juan Capistrano, which is open daily to tourists. A new parish church, Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, was completed in 1986 and designed after the original Great Stone Church. Its interior walls feature motifs designed and painted by artist Dr. Norman Neuerberg.
