About Bauxite Historical Association Museum
The Bauxite Museum, housed in the historic Community Hall, preserves the legacy of this company town founded by ALCOA in the early 1900s. The museum features artifacts, photographs, and personal stories of miners and their families, documenting the mining and processing of bauxite ore, the source of aluminum. During World War II, this region supplied over 95 percent of the nation's bauxite for military aircraft production.
